June 13 – Double-take.
Sometimes taking a photo can reveal things that you didn’t/can’t see during live events. When you finally see the pic you often have to look once, twice, and maybe many more times.
I took this photo at a 2015 UCONN – ECU game. I was standing down the first base line, just beyond the bag. Essentially, the perfect position to get a shot of any action at second base. I didn’t have to wait for long.
ECU’s #2 Garrett Brooks attempted to steal second base. Unfortunately he was dead meat. The ball from the catcher beat Brooks to the bag long before he was even close – the second baseman was waiting for him, smiling.
Because of my superb planning and cat-like reflexes as a photographer, I was rewarded with a nice sequence of photos. I knew I had them in the bag. I immediately went back to capturing more game action. ECU won the game 5-2.
Later as I was backing up the photos and preparing to process the images from the game, I looked at this photo. Yup, I had nailed the action. Nice. But wait, what the …..?
What was Samuel L. Jackson doing playing second base for the UCONN Huskies? It was indisputable. Clearly, Samuel L. was there playing second.
So obviously I carefully scanned all the other photos just to make sure that there were no snakes at the game as well.
Until next post be safe, be kind.
