May 3: Just what the doctor ordered.
First, as Dorothy said, there’s no place like home. I’m back home after about two weeks. After having such a great time at my niece’s wedding (see post #314), I headed first to Gvegas (Greenville, NC) and then to Wilson, NC.
Now with apologies to those that live there, I’m not a big fan of Wilson. But one thing that Wilson does have is historic Fleming Stadium and I absolutely love the park.
So for five days I was in heaven. As I think I mentioned in an earlier post, I was the photographer for the Conference Carolinas Baseball Championship. There was a historic stadium, perfect weather, AND great baseball.
The Wilson Tobs organization hosted the event and they were extremely gracious and supportive to me. Thanks Mike and the gang.
In addition to all that my best friend Brent came for a couple of days and we were able to chat baseball, catch up on old time, and catch up on our wings and beer deficit. Friend and fellow Wright (aka Steve Shovel) came to help shoot for two days as well; always a good time talking photography and sharing notes. And a new friend “Grandpa” Ronnie came to shoot a game. I’m supposedly helping Ronnie to improve his photography skills but I think that he’s really after my job.
To top it all off I witness AND recorded the without a doubt, no contest, hands down, best dog pile I’ve ever seen by the new 2021 Conference Carolinas Champs North Greenville University. Just look at #4 on the right – he took a running start and really got some air before he landed on the pile. I got a great sequence from that.
Until next post be safe, be kind, and hopefully you’ll win and get to jump on a dog pile.
