June 8: As Yogi said, when you come to a fork in the road, take it.
This is a brief homage to a great Coach, Coach Ben Fox of the ECU Club baseball team. Coach Fox really got me to keep going to club baseball and for that I am deeply thankful.
But to be honest, Coach is a photographer’s nightmare!
You see, Coach is a pacer. The lines that outline the coaches box are mere “suggestions” to him. Coach Fox always paces, runs, and waltzes up and down the line. Up and down the line.
So the challenge is to out-Fox Coach Ben. It’s sort of a Mohammed Ali rope-a-dope technique. I get into position, Coach moves, then I must do the Ali dance to get into a new position for a clear shot. The technique unfortunately doesn’t always work.
Let’s just say that I have a lot of photos of someone’s backside. He’s photobombed me more than – well, you get the picture (although I didn’t get the photo).
However, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Coach Ben is one of my favorite Coaches. He’s always been welcoming and very respectful to me. He’s also given me better workouts than a Peloton trying to get him out of my shots.
Until next post, be kind, be safe and float like a butterfly but sting like a bee.
