September 19: How all this got started.
Well, Paul Simon may love his Kodachrome with those nice bright colors and the greens of summers but I love me some B&W photos.
I started in photography as a freshman in High School. You know, ” back, way back, back into time.
When the only people that existed were troglodytes. Cave men, cave women, Neanderthal, troglodytes.”
Now boys and girls there were no iPhones, no personal computers, and certainly no digital cameras. We had to use what they called film.
I had a Mamiya Sekor SLR. Built a dark room in the garage and could only afford a B&W enlarger and setup. But it was magic. I was hooked. I was on the path to become a world class photographer (in my own mind).
So even to this day I gotta go back to my roots and print B&W. I do have to admit that it’s harder to sing about TriX film than Kodachrome.
Until next post be kind, be safe, and remember you can find art everywhere!
