September 20: The eyes have it.
To me, shooting sports is more than getting great action shots. It’s an attempt to tell a story of the sport, share a glimpse of the current game, and showcase the athletes.
I always try to get some “sports portraits” of the athletes at times that reveal some of the emotions of the sport. to share an intimate moment with the athlete. This has certainly been quite a challenge during the pandemic.
Much of a person’s emotion is lost behind a mask. But there’s a saying in photography – “eyes are a window into a person’s soul.”
So it’s critical that I also get subject’s eyes are “sharp as tacks” in an image. And when this is accomplished, it’s amazing how expressive the photo can be.
Until next post be kind, be safe, and keep expressing yourself with those baby blues.
