October 15: “Close to the action”
There’s a lot to getting a good sports shot. Of course you need access to the field, but there’s a lot more.
You have to anticipate where the action will be. Prepare your gear to capture the action. Follow the action all the way to the end – even if the action is heading right towards you and the players are getting mighty big in the viewfinder.
Sometimes the action gets really close to ya and there’s been a few close calls where I almost got “runned-over and smushed.”
It’s the price one pays trying to get the “shot.”
